Ska jazz is a music genre derived by combining the melodic content of jazz with the rhythmic and harmonic content of ska. Ska jazz is considered a subgenre of third wave ska, but lacks the punk rock influence present in much of third wave ska, though jazz was a significant influence on ska itself. Ska jazz bands usually contain one or two electric guitars, a bass guitar, keyboards, a drum kit and a horn section (composed of any combination of the following: trumpet, trombone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, and baritone saxophone). Occasionally there may be one or more vocalists, but the genre is primarily focused on instrumental tunes. The brass instruments usually carry the melody, and there are occasional improvised solos. The rhythm section places accents on the off beats, thus giving the music a different feel than straight jazz. From Wikipedia under the

Rock - ROCK is a form of popular music from the late 20th century which typically features a vocal melody (often with vocal harmony) that is supported by accompaniment of electric guitars, a bass guitar, and drums, often with a strong back beat. Keyboard instruments such as organ, piano, or synthesizers are often used in many types of rock music. While brass and woodwind instruments, such as saxophone were common in some styles in earlier development of rock, they are less common in the newer subgenres of rock music since the 1990s. Q. Is tenor sax a good instrument to pick up at 16. There isnt any band ta my school so I could only practice at home but I'm huge into Jazz and ska so what do you think should I go for it? Asked by ZachBquick - Tue Apr 21 20:48:48 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Tenor is a really good jazz instrument, and what's nice about the sax is that you can pick up any of the 4 when you know the fingerings well enough. Tenor would be fine to start, though. I started on alto and found it easy to pick up, but it wasn't my first, so learning embouchure may be difficult at first. You'll like it, though, and tenor is a big solo instrument in jazz bands, so yes, definitely go for it!
